for researching this project i decided the best way of finding good examples of expressions was from watching other animations based around characters. i watched many different kind but the three i have uploaded here really stood out. they all have a good range of expressions which clearly convey their feelings and the story without speaking. other animations i watched which were similar were things like 'the owl' and a few other all of these gave me ideas as to how to give my character better emotions for example every expression starts with the eyes so to give my character that little bit more personality i need to focus a lot on his eyes.
other videos i watched to get a good feel for conveying the emotions of the characters were things like tom and Jerry and the pixar shorts as most of these are based around non speaking characters which means that all emotion and story line has to be conveyed through the characters expressions and actions.
when it came to researching the expressions specific for my character of the dragon i watched several different animations of dragons such as the film how to train your dragon dragon heart and several others most gave the dragons dog like faces and expressions which i shall attempt to emulate as this gives the dragon more of a personality as it is that different from human and more "cute" people will identify and enjoy the character more..
